I am a geologist with a diverse range of research interests related to lithospheric deformation and petrology. I have several publications related to the tectonics of convergent margins, however my current focus is on rheology and the development of microstructural techniques that bear on big-picture questions, e.g. crustal strength or the earthquake cycle. I am motived by the belief that the microstructural record, particularly from actively deforming regions, contains a rich and relatively untapped data source best studied in tandem with numerical modeling and deformation experiments.
